The Idle Path

The Idle Path

"And how many aspiring writers have written their first novel in the belief that it is fiction, only to discover that it is really about them and quite commonly about their childhood"
-wrote Alexander McCall Smith in introduction to  My Days by R K Narayan.

R K Narayan was not my favourite author. But when Kushal once suggested, I started reading and the only thing I could conclude was that I claim to write in English while he was educated. But I should not be blamed! I had nothing from him to learn in my School/College. My brother had and I vaguely remember Pathumma, my tutor and them discussing. The first book I laid hand on was 'The Financial Expert' obviously. Of course I had heard about Malgudy Days. But We had no TV back then. So I missed all episodes. I only remember Ananth Nag in some Newspaper photos. I am yet to read. But I bought a collection and read The English Teacher which I could not complete due to emotion and then the Guide and so on.

When I wrote 'The Inverted Tiq Marqs' I was not naïve as to believe as suggested by A M Smith. I wanted to write and I could call it fiction because it is certainly not a bio pic. I didn't mean it to be. It just happened as a catharsis and I just went ahead, completed and self published. That is all. It all just happened.

However, I really wanted 'gather' to help me in my aspirations in writing. When it failed, It just filled in the blanks of my fate.

In old times, A house is completed only a long time after its foundation was built. I left my blog pages idle for a long time in this belief. I am no loafer and I would like to write.........!
